Abstract

Calls to warn of the dangers of the digital world on children have spread widely recently, which
reinforced the traditional view that views the digital world as a problem for children as an
environment full of risks, which increases the authoritarian parental management that adopts
strict control and restriction behavior for adolescent children in particular, and as a result leads
to Their lagging behind and losing the opportunity to exploit the many opportunities of the
digital world, and the study aims to measure the extent of adolescent parents' awareness of their
children's opportunities in the digital world, which is important for achieving a balance between
opportunities and risks and preventing adolescent children being deprived of their
opportunities. The study used the descriptive and analytical approach, through An intentional
basic sample of 370 items, through the application of a measure of parents 'awareness of the
opportunities of the digital world, and the data were processed statistically, depending on the
Statistical Package for social science, The results showed that parents of adolescents' awareness
of their children's opportunities in the digital world and its risks are average. In general, there
are no differences between males and females, or between different age groups, or between
educational levels, While awareness of the increase in the family's monthly income increases.
From the above, it can be concluded that parents of adolescents lack adequate awareness of
media education and need awareness of their children's opportunities in the digital world in
order to enable their children to navigate the current and future digital world in balance and
safety, and this requires intensifying parent awareness programs and developing their digital
media skills in order for them to be able in their turn. From helping their children integrate into
this world without lagging behind others.
