Atharu al-‛Ibādāt wa Dawruha fī Binā’ al-Shakhṣiyyah al-Muslimah [The Effect of Worship on Building The Muslim Personality]

Abstract

In the prominent sedition in the current era, the personality of the Muslim has suffered from
turbulence in their life. This makes their personality run after materialisms in various ways without
distinguishing between winning it's forbidden or permissible. Consequently, the personality of the
Muslim drifted towards moral deviation in all aspects of life and became marked by weakness and
dependence. The reason for that is weakness faith and the lack of inspiration for the spirit of worship
and its purpose because acts of worship contribute to rebalancing the character of the Muslim and have
a great role in building, integrity and benefiting from their energies, capabilities and ideas. This study
aims to highlight the role of worship in the life of the Muslim to reach a strong, balanced, Muslim who
is free of disturbance leading to insecurity and instability. Besides, the study aims to show the effect
worship on building the Muslim character to achieve comprehensive mental health in which a person
reaches a balance that makes him successful at the family level, in his work, and his relationships with
others. The study revealed important results. The study showed that worship has an effect in building
the personality of the Muslim that makes him strong and steadfast. The Muslim won’t weaken in front
of destructive desires, as it is one of the strongest psychological controls that accrue to the soul by
purification and not running after the deadly desires of the soul. The study confirmed that acts of worship
contribute to building the personality of the Muslim as it provides the believer with a spiritual force that
helps him to face the hardships and deception in the worldly life. The acts of worship help Muslim to
resist evil work and supporting Muslim to do good work and overcoming aspects of human weakness.
The study confirmed that worship strengthens the wish of the believer and makes him control his
motivation. Worship overcomes the revolution of emotion and anxiety anger. The researcher adopts a
descriptive and analytical approach. This approach is based on describing and analyzing the extent to
what the acts of worship effect on building the Muslim character to reach the pillars that contribute to
the formation of the ideological personality that has a purposeful mentality, correct behaviour, and a
restless, uneasy soul.
